Staff with disabilities are top of the class

Certificate presentation ceremony

The hard work has paid off for 69 employees with disabilities who received certificates for new skills and qualifications on 2 October. They are all part of the Council's supported employment programme, which gives people with physical or learning disabilities meaningful work.

The courses were paid for by the Council to help the staff gain more skills for their current jobs and to be more employable in the open job market.

The 69 people are from:

  • the County Council's three supported employment sites for horticulture and work training, which are based at Skegby, Balderton and Brooke Farm in Linby
  • County Enterprise Foods, which provides meals at home
  • Solutions4Data, which provides a service for transferring information, scanning and Braille

The certificates were presented by Councillors Kevin Rostance and Stuart Wallace, Chair and Vice Chair of the Adult Social Care and Health Committee at a reception at County Hall.

The certificates were gained in a variety of subjects such as independent living, literacy and numeracy, horticulture and personal development.
