Consultation is important: as a council, we need to know that the decisions we make take into account the views of the people of Nottinghamshire. Involving the public in the work of local government has become an integral part of the policy-making process. It's not simply about more open-government, although that too is important, it's about making policies more effective by listening to and taking on-board the views of the public and interested groups.

Bassetlaw District – Retford Area – No Stopping on Entrance Markings (School Keep Clear) and No Waiting at Any Time RestrictionsAs part of the first stage of works to make all the “School Keep Clear” markings in Nottinghamshire legally enforceable, the County Council is proposing to introduce a legal Order covering these markings in the Bassetlaw area. The Orders are being introduced to prohibit vehicles from stopping on the “School Keep Clear” markings on Monday to Friday between 8am and 4.30pm. Experimental Traffic Order, Bridge Street, WorksopThe scheme is intended to significantly reduce the numbers of vehicles currently travelling through Bridge Street in Worksop, which is a pedestrianised area. Following pre consultation the experimental order came into operation on 22 May 2012. Consultation on the local funding formula for schools and early years providers 2017-18In determining the local funding formula a local authority must engage in open and transparent consultation with all maintained schools, academies in the area as well as its schools forum including method, principles and rules adopted.
